A 7,100-pound, 35-foot-long piece of metal from the World Trade Center is destined to become the basis for Belleville's Sept. 11th Memorial Walkway of Southern Illinois.The public will be able to see the World Trade Center artifact, which was authorized for delivery to Belleville by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, for the first time at 10 a.m. Sept. 5 during the SouthWestern Illinois Central Labor Council's Labor Day Parade in downtown Belleville.The memorial will be built at the Belleville Fire Department's Administration Office at Illinois 159 and Illinois 15. The proposed Memorial Walkway will tell the story of what happened on 9/11, including a timeline of events at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and Flight 93.
